🦉✉️ How many times have you written a letter to Hogwarts? How many times did you see an owl and hope it came for you? Fell in love with Malfoy? Cried when Dobby sacrificed himself? Memorized all the spells and charms? Looked for Platform 9¾ in the subway? Wore Hermione’s scarf like it was part of you and dreamed of one day entering the magical world… For a whole generation, Harry Potter has been a source of magic, wonder, and endless imagination. ✨🪄 Muggles, wizards, squibs, half-bloods and pure-bloods, muggle-borns, animagi and dementors—get ready: the world of Harry Potter is coming back with a fresh new take. This time, not as a movie, video game, or play, but as a long-running TV series that will tell the full story from J.K. Rowling’s books, including all the details we’ve never seen on screen. HBO (now Max) has officially announced the main cast, and it’s safe to say—we’re at the start of a brand new Potter era. 💫 Seven seasons for seven books The series will have seven seasons, each one based on one book by Rowling. The creative team promises to stay true to the spirit of the books, while adding everything the movies didn’t have time for. The characters’ ages will also match the books this time—Snape, for example, will be 31 years old, as he was supposed to be during the first story, and not 50+ like in the movies. Though let’s be honest, Alan Rickman’s Snape will always live in our hearts 🥺 💫 A new cast, with new potential The entire cast is new. The choice of the main trio already promises to bring new life to the series. Harry will be played by Dominic MacLaughlin from Scotland, who, even though still very young, has already appeared in a few small projects. Hermione will be played by Arabella Stanton, who has performed on stage and received positive feedback—despite some mixed opinions online. Ron will be played by Alastair Stout, whose sincerity and fitting appearance have won over fans. All three were selected from over 30,000 auditions held internationally. Even though there was some criticism, the new trio was mostly welcomed warmly by fans, and many are excited to see how they’ll bring the magic of Hogwarts to life once again. John Lithgow will play Dumbledore, Nick Frost will play Hagrid, and Snape will be portrayed by Paapa Essiedu. However, there are rumors going around that Paapa might step away from the role of Snape, as his casting led to a lot of public debate and backlash. The actor reportedly doesn’t want this role to affect his reputation or career. Some fans said they just can’t imagine Snape being played by a Black actor—despite all the talk about inclusivity. And if we remember the books or films, Snape was the one teacher many students disliked. So in this case, it might look strange that in the show, all the students dislike the only Black professor… and that’s where the real bias starts to show, right? But let’s leave this topic aside—for now, Snape’s fate is still unclear 🤔 Of course, fans also have their own dream cast for other roles that haven’t been announced yet. Many hope to see Cillian Murphy as Voldemort, Ben Barnes as Sirius Black, and Andy Serkis as Dobby. The new cast gives a chance to rediscover the characters without being in the shadow of the original actors. The open auditions drew huge interest—with over 30,000 people applying and only a few being chosen. The series will be filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden—the same place where the original films were made. 💫 A creative team with real experience What makes this even more exciting is the team behind it. The director is Mark Mylod (Game of Thrones, Succession), the showrunners are Francesca Gardiner and Laura Neal, and costume design is in the hands of Oscar-winner Holly Waddington. This isn’t just another TV show—it’s a massive magical journey, and Warner Bros. is investing in it with high hopes for both new audiences and lifelong fans. In fact, some reports say this series could be as big in scale as Game of Thrones. 🎮 And yes, there are whispers that the series will have links to the upcoming sequel of the video game Hogwarts Legacy. We don’t know yet how deep the connection will go, but it’s been confirmed that the teams are working together. The premiere is expected in 2027. It was originally planned for 2026, but due to the writers’ strike and production delays, it was pushed back. Still, the magical letters are already on their way. And if you didn’t get your Hogwarts letter as a kid—this might just be your second chance to believe in magic again. ✨
